essential apps for minimal phone with e ink display

Minimal phone gets an upgrade as it can run Uber, Spotify, Google Maps, Whatsapp, and more on its E Ink display. Since its first introduction, a slew of new features has appeared on the phone. Because it operates on Android 14, users get full access to the Google Play Store so they can download their essential apps. They might lag a bit given that the Minimal Phone has an E Ink display, but the startup says the resolution of the screen is 230 ppi. This gives enough clarity to the users so they can browse through the apps without squinting or straining their eyes.

The size of the screen is 4.3 inches, and there’s a tactile keyboard for those who miss typing on physical keys. Unlike the previous version, the upgraded Minimal Phone with E Ink display has two cameras. There are two models, the startup says: one has a front camera, and the other doesn’t. For the front lens, it sits below the alt key on the lower left side of the phone. It has 5-megapixel capabilities, which is less than the 16-megapixel lens on the back camera. There’s also an LED flash on the rear of the phone to give enough lighting to the subject of the photos.

dedicated button for the fingerprint unlock

At the bottom of the Minimal Phone with E Ink display, users find the speaker, microphone, USB-C port, and the 3.5 mm headphone jack. This feature brings back the days of wired earphones, unlike the ones on the market today. On the sides, the buttons to increase and decrease the volume emerge, as well as the E Ink refresh and the slot for the dual SIM, which doubles as the storage of the memory card. There’s also a dedicated button for the fingerprint unlock, a feature usually found in smartphones these days.

The design team adds a navigation bar just above the tactile keyboard. On top of the Minimal Phone with E Ink display, the proximity sensor sits beside another speaker and microphone. The device has a 3,000 mAh battery capacity and is wireless-charging ready. For specs buffs, the device runs on a MediaTek Helio G99 processor with an octa-core CPU. There are three colors available, namely Pebble, Onyx, and Fusion, which is a mix of the two. The startup offers the Minimal Phone with E Ink display in either 6GB memory with 128GB of storage, or 8GB memory with 256GB of storage. The pre-orders are open now, and the shipping begins in March 2025.
