MOBI is a self-driving robotic cart developed to support shopping activities across a range of retail environments. Designed as a compact and lightweight platform, the cart is capable of carrying loads of up to 30 kg and is sized to fit inside a standard car trunk, allowing for easy transport and storage.

The system operates as an autonomous follower, navigating alongside the user through stores and public interiors. Movement is supported by autonomous navigation and obstacle-avoidance capabilities, enabling MOBI to operate in confined spaces such as narrow aisles. Direction and control are supplemented by a handheld remote, which assists in guiding the cart during use.

MOBI incorporates two foldable, multi-purpose containers with thermal insulation. Each container supports up to 15 kg and can be deployed from a compact folded state into a rigid basket through a single motion. The containers are designed to be used individually or stacked, with a self-supporting structure that ensures stability during movement.

The cart is powered by a battery designed to support up to four hours of continuous use. An integrated mounting point allows for the attachment of a tracking device, such as an Apple AirTag, supporting location awareness during shopping trips.

Intended for use across diverse retail contexts, including small shops, large grocery stores, shopping centers, and extended shopping trips, MOBI, conceived by designer Andrew Kikta, explores the integration of autonomous mobility, modular storage, and user-guided navigation within a compact retail support device.
