ELI analyzes your conversations to provide personal foreign language lessons

monom—a japanese spinoff from the HAKUHODO product innovation team and the 1-10 creative studio—have created a personal foreign language teacher that develops lessons tailored to the words you use on a daily basis. unlike any language teacher you had in school, ELI by name—short for english learning intelligence—sits neatly on your collar, as discreet as a piece of jewelwry. the wearable device tunes in to your day-to-day conversations, picking up on the words and phrases that you use the most and sending them straight over to its sibling smartphone app that generates a personalized foreign language based on the language you’ve spoken that day.

unlike other language courses and apps on the market, which involve learning words that you may never need to use, ELI focuses specifically on the words you need. instead of repeatedly practicing phrases that are not quite relevant, ELI provides the wearer with lessons tailored to what you usually speak in your mother tongue. the neat little device has already won a grand prix in the android experiments OBJECT competition for its position as a user-friendly was of learning a foreign language.
