montblanc has rung in 2015 by becoming the first luxury brand to enter the wearable technology market with ‘the timewalker urban speed e-strap’, a smart accessory that transforms analog timepieces into smartwatches. conceived as a fitness tracker, the OLED touch display unit is capable of measuring steps, calories burnt and distance with detailed analysis of personal progress within a built-in app.  the ‘timewalker urban speed e-strap’ syncs with both android and iOS platforms and allows the user to receive smart notifications from text messages, e-mails, incoming calls, calendar events activity reminders and social media feeds.

the device also serves as a remote-control for smartphones, controlling music with help from a built-in accelerometer and haptic vibration motor. the bluetooth-enabled accessory is powered by a rechargeable lithion-ion battery which has a 5 day energy supply and can be charged via micro-USB. the strap will be available in three different new timewalker watches or separately as a strap for approximately $423 USD.
