with a white base, matt black components and white, blue and red M power stripes, there’s a distinct character to motocrew’s BMW K100 RS custom motorcycle despite its seemingly minimalist first impression. the original 1984 model has been refined, reshaped and retouched to fit the modern day in appearance and power – although the engine was still in good shape. the cafe racer reflects the german auto brand’s performance line while, at the same time, evoking a neo-retro look.

for motocrew, the biggest challenge with the BMW K100 RS custom was the original rear frame, which, in the studio’s opinion, descends both visually and in terms of actual aesthetic quality towards the end. the entire frame was reworked, cutting off the excess and welding a new offset rear to be mounted on to the original frame. the white frame rail matches the color and also runs underneath the smooth fuel tank to the rear, where it supports the alcantara bench seat. a pair of metal wing-shaped plates re-shape the tank to create a more dynamic impression.

in contrast to its white body, the lower frame as well as the motorcycle’s engine and multitude of components have been refreshed and coated in satin and matt black paint finishes. the original’s air box was ditched in favor of a newly fabricated, unique intake with a DNA filter. new exhaust headers have also been added, which flow into a SC project CR-T muffler to complete its performance factors.

motocrew’s BMW K100 RS custom sits atop 17’ BMW K1200 units wrapped in sporty shinko tires. on its front, there is a single LED headlight and a tiny motogadget speedo that rests on top of a 3D-printed bracket. this is complemented by motogadget’s bluetooth-enable mo.unit blue controller and keyless ignition as well as highlight mirrors and turn signals at the end of the handlebars. towards the back, there is a set of rear pegs and the license plate bracket has been mounted discretely to the side of the wheel.

  • Nicely done! I have this model; got it already partially sawed-off and in boxes. This is closer to what I’d aim at when I can clear the garage and help my son finish his Integra head gasket. Every K-bike mod struggles with the “meh” frame, once you take off the factory plastic. The high contrast white bracket is a good fix: restores the seat height and continues a line that can be defined by the bottom of the tank. Now I have to learn how to weld!
