nauti-craft marine introduces suspension technology to improve ride control and stability

land vehicles have always used suspension to isolate the shocks and vibration of the road surface, yet boat users have always suffered from the harshness associated with the buffeting of even the most modest wave conditions. australian r&d company nauti-craft has developed a technology that solves this issue.

nauti-craft‘s innovative marine suspension technology separates the vessel’s hulls from the deck and superstructure. this solution allows the hulls to react rapidly to wave inputs and adjust to the ocean surface reducing movement in the deck. a ‘passive reactive’ interlinked hydraulic system comes in between the hull and deck to increase the ride’s comfort, control and stability.

the technology includes multiple features that address the need for marine suspension in the market. the passive reactive system’s hydraulic interconnections provide beneficial functions without power when underway or at rest. the technology is self-levelling and auto-adjustable for different load conditions and sea states. it also includes an optional active roll control for efficient and stable cornering and an optional active pitch control. boats using the technology, reduce their whole body vibration by 75% providing unparalleled levels of shock mitigation.

the technology has ample potential applications including uses for commercial, military and recreational vessels. it can also cover a wide range of vessel sizes, from small boats to ones measuring up to 100 feet. nauti-craft also developed a range of luxury concepts that appeal to the high-end market, as well as more niche options for whale-watching and wind-farm vessels.

nauti-craft’s innovation comes with a series of benefits that make a much more pleasant ride for the boat users. the technology reduces slamming and jarring motions to improve comfort and safety. the system also reduces roll and pitch motions to avoid sea sickness, and improves planing speed in rougher sea wave conditions to improve speed comfort and efficiency.

  • ‘No maintenance required’ .. What could go wrong? I bet they’re after a Gvmt. contract, they’re the only ones who can afford to throw this sort in a ‘surplus’ pile.
