'ora' concept watch by alexandros stasinopoulos

greek designer alexandros stasinopoulos has sent us images of his latest concept watch ‘ora’.   the ‘ora’ concept is a study on the field of haute horlogerie.  it focuses on the display of time via an unconventional mode, by replacing the expected dial arrangement found in the vast majority of the mechanical watcheswith a set of three interwoven tapes – one to indicate the hour(s), one to indicate the minute(s), and one to indicate the day.

the design of the case reflects an ‘inside-out’ design approach as it was the mechanism’s arrangement that prescribed the overall form in an attempt to enhance its uniqueness and create a distinctive silhouette.

btw alex was a former design aerobics participant and designboom would like to congratulate him on his quality of work. if you would like to participate in our current courses check out the full list here

  • I like it. Refreshing concept. Should only come in yellow/white though, if it would be produced one day.

    MJW says:
  • i’d actually wear this. Good work, peronally i like the white and blue one

    Louisa Pacifico says:
  • “Should only come in yellow/white though…”

Man, could you be a little more insecurely judgmental?

Why should I give a s*** what colors YOU think it should come in? Are you going to buy all of them when released on the market?

    Rialdo says:

Thanks again each one of you.

    alexandros says:
  • why beeing simple when you can be over complicated

    lili says:
  • Nice!
Turquoise & leather would definitely be my choice, I was doubting between the yellow/white and the white/blue glass, but that turquoise one made my day.

WHEN IS IT COMING TO THE STORES???

    Tiriel says:
  • i would most definitely buy this watch.

    Remi Verhoeven says:
  • time is color blind (niggers)

    Wik Rakeman says:
  • Wow that’s really nice well done. I’d love one!

    Gemma says:
  • This is one of the most amazing watch designs I’ve ever seen. By far the most unique. I’d love to buy one if they’re ever on the market – or if you’d take a private one-off order, I’d gladly pay for that as well. I’d love the black-framed model but with red tapes – that would be so slick.. not that the all-black one isn’t slick. 🙂

If you’re interested in selling one of these concept versions, please email me at [email protected]
