peekfreak cameras

peekfreak is a collaborative project by industrial designer wai lam and the experimental photographer yann huey. the two combined forces to create a series of cameras that explore new possibilities in photography. the cameras they built are made using everyday objects including plastic food containers and old floppy disks. each camera is completely different and produces images that are equally unique. the peekfreak cameras also lack any sort of controls so familiar to today’s digital point and shoot users, making the act of photography completely spontaneous. here is a look at some of the cameras they have already made and some of the images they have produced.

But it is like when people shoot cinema digitally and then use a “crusty” filter. Never the same. There is always a predictability to digital tools to make things look lofi or damaged. I think the final two photos are quite unique.
