after three years of development and engineering processes, pierpaolo lazzarini‘s ‘U.F.O 1.2’ is ready to be built through a crowdfunding calendar. designed as a floating houseboat or ‘unidentified floating object’, the concept spans 12.5 meters in diameter and includes two habitable areas. the sea-level area comprises of a main entrance, as well as a deck for sunbathing and an optional vegetable garden. as you descend, the entrance connects to a sub-level bathroom and underwater bedroom.

inside the disk are stored batteries, water tanks and weights, providing the necessary load in order to push the submerged part below the waterline with a maximum immersion of about 2.3 meters. as the original project from a few years ago, the U.F.O 1.2 will be provided with a desalination system. this particular houseboat will also be able to move for short transfer distances with a limited speed of about 3.5 knots or stay anchored using a four points anchoring system. once the necessary amount to build the first working unit is reached, lazzarini estimates the completion of the first floating saucer by 2021.

the crowdfunding calendar proposes to present the U.F.O 1.2 as a timeshare opportunity, with visitors able to book a day or night. the aim of this is to make the houseboat finance itself, and enable the production and assembly of the first unit. 365 days of the calendar will be available in pre-order due to the large amount of batteries and re-charging solar systems available outside and inside the spacious 12.5 meters disc structure, the houseboat will be completely self sustainable and autonomous, providing additional energy to supply electric powered vessels. an under water windscreen wiper will let you have always a clean view of the seabed, while a rooftop jacuzzi will provide the ultimate luxury holiday.
