world's first playable DJ pizza box cuts and slices melodies

this playable DJ pizza box uses cardboard technology to innovate the pizza-making industry. the plethora of crust and dough options are now well established, so companies are turning to clever marketing campaigns to ensure that meals are served and sales keep ticking over. one recent example of such a fun gimmick is the launch of the ‘world’s first playable DJ pizza box’ from pizza hut, which is a traditional cardboard container that includes all of the technology a DJ needs — mixer, crossfader, two decks, volume control, scratch effects — plus a pizza.

created by printed electronics company novalia, the battery-powered box can connect to a computer or smartphone via bluetooth and is compatible with popular DJ software, like serato DJDJ vectra, a beat selector for london-based underground radio station, rinse fm, demonstrates in the video embedded, aspiring controllerists can scratch, rewind, control pitch and crossfade between tracks.

if the promise of pizza-scented vinyl has you excited, pizza hut says it will give a limited number of them away. however, they will be just five of its 350 UK restaurants. to find out when these sought after beat boxes are available, be sure to keep an eye on the company’s official UK twitter feed.
