polestar partners with wallpaper* magazine’s nick compton in its continued effort toward sustainable solutions in mobility, this time with its re:move electric transporter. moving toward a climate neutral future, the company introduces the scooter-like EV as an ultra narrow ‘last-delivery’ vehicle which re-imagines how goods are transported within cities as the world looks to reduce reliance on combustion engines. while the COVID-19 crisis has opened a window into a world of quieter cities and cleaner air, the past year has seen a surge in online shopping and home deliveries.

commissioned by nick compton of wallpaper* magazine, polestar‘s team behind re:move designs the electric transporter as a three-wheeled urban ‘sled.’ designer konstantin grcic together with a team of e-mobility innovators and material engineers collaborated remotely to make his vision a viable and functional reality. compact and mobile enough for most bike lanes, but big enough to handle a 606-pound payload, re:move defines a new vehicle category. built with fully recyclable and low carbon aluminum, the EV carries and delivers in a cleaner, quieter and kinder way.

a working version of polestar’s electric re:move will be unveiled this autumn. konstantin grcic overcomes the complex engineering challenges of realizing his design through a collaboration with the hydro engineering team, polestar’s design engineering lead at the company’s UK R&D facility, chris staunton, and cake founder stefan ytterborn. konstantin grcic comments: ‘the horizontal platform and the vertical shield is something you don’t see in vehicle design. this is how you’d build a table or a shelf. I think the simplicity and directness, the pragmatism, is nice. good design has always been sustainable, because it’s lasting. things that have a long lifecycle are sustainable.’
