718 boxster – porsche restructures mid-engine roadster after 20 year debut

the first boxster made its debut 20 years ago, and now porsche is restructuring its mid-engine roadster. the ‘718 boxster’ and ‘718 boxster S’ two seat convertibles continue the DNA with a more powerful yet more fuel efficient four cylinder flat engine. the centerpiece was the added turbocharging system to the engine which now develops 300 hp from only a two liter displacement. meanwhile, the ‘718 boxster S’ reaches 350 hp with a 2.5 liter. 

the complete restructured chassis and stronger brakes provide a comprehensive sport driving experience. the front end of the roadster exhibits a more sculptural form with a masculine appearance. the much larger cooling air intakes at the front are a distinct exterior expression of the turbo engine concept. bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights round out the front end. from a side view, identifying features include a independently styled wings and side sills. larger air inlet panels with two fins emphasize the car’s energetic look and the doors are now designed without door handle recess covers 

the porsche ‘718 boxster’ and ‘718 boxster S’ 

awaiting the driver in the cockpit of the ‘718 boxster’ is the familiar porsche interior environment. the centre console includes the porsche communication management unit with mobile phone preparation, audio interfaces and sound package with 110 watts of audio power. the market launch of the porsche ‘718 boxster’ begins in april 2016.
