realme 14 pro series introduces world’s first cold-sensitive smartphones that change color

realme debuts its 14 Pro Series as the world’s first smartphones that change color when exposed to cold conditions. The back cover has a pearl white texture that shifts into marbled blue with direct contact to cold. In fact, this case is made of natural, micro-crystal pearl shell powder that realme co-creates with Nordic industrial design studio Valeur Designers. As a result, it creates a glossy and silky effect from different angles. The color of the realme 14 Pro Series smartphones begins changing as soon as the temperature drops below 16 degrees Celsius.

The blue linings, inspired by the colors of the sea, emerge and blend with white and gold. Inside the realme 14 Pro smartphones, there’s a cooling system made of a graphite sheet. It diffuses the heat the devices generate so that they don’t warm up so much. This is ideal if the user plays games for hours on their smartphones. Flipping the devices, users find a subtly curved and bezel-less display throughout the lineup. The devices also come with an AI eye protection algorithm. It detects the users’ eye fatigue and can adjust the screen’s color temperature on its own.

The devices can still work even after 48 hours underwater

Aside from realme’s changing-color design for the 14 Pro smartphones, the company says that the devices can still work ‘just like before’ even after 48 hours under two meters of water. It’s because the smartphones have passed the waterproof tests: IP69 for the ingress of dust and high-temperature, high-pressure water; IP68 for the continuous water immersion; and IP66 for the high-pressure water jets. The realme 14 Pro smartphones also feature a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and the in-house ArmorShell, which offer the devices strength and drop protection.

The devices come with a 6,000 mAh battery capacity, and they can charge from one to 50 percent in around 24 minutes. Users can continuously play games for up to 10 hours, watch videos for up to 17 hours, and play music for up to 90 hours on a single charge. As for the lenses, realme uses Sony OIS cameras for up to 50 megapixels. They also support 4K resolution, and for the front camera, it’s a 32-megapixel, non-Sony one. There are three strips of flash around the three cameras as well for better lighting when taking night photography. The realme 14 Pro smartphones are available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.
