the ‘revolve wheel’ is an airless, foldable tire alternative that is puncture-proof and compatible with most bicycles and wheelchairs. created by german designer, andrea mocellin, his modern take on the old wheel design was influenced by the growing trend of foldable vehicles, which are often limited due to the size of their wheels.

the ‘revolve wheel‘ offers a solution for folding bicycles that have had to use smaller wheels to be able to fold to a small enough size for carrying – most manufacturers use 16 or 20 inch wheels. mocellin’s wheel provides full size 26-inch wheels that can fold to less than one third of their height.  its unique hexagonal structure folds down to a sculptural pod, allowing for effortless pack up with an aesthetic reminiscent of a sleek loudspeaker. the ‘revolve’ is designed to be the first modular wheel that can be taken easily on the road.

  • This is a great idea. It is difficult to pack spare tires in a bag or mount a spare tire somewhere on a rack fit for a bike. Not only that, but the tires are sometimes the most important item on the bike. When traveling long distances on the Greyhound, good tires are what you need. Frames can be found in any downtown area thrown aside with irritated disregard from a flat tire. With a hand full of tools and these folded tires, you are read to travel anywhere in the downtown area within a couple minutes.

  • I’d like to see it’s folded dimensions before I can tell if it is truly space saving.

  • NO! I mean nice thought but closed it still seems large and bulky, so actually you don’t earn anything… sorry for my sad opinion.

  • OK. So…, what and where is the rest of the vehicle, bicycle, wheelchair, etc. And how does this function for people with disabilities, etc. We just see someone moving a folding wheel around, transferring it from a wheelchair to a bicycle, walking it onto public transportation… Nice form without a real-world application.
