live from las vegas: in the leadup to CES 2020, samsung has unveiled sero, a rotating TV designed for the mobile generation. the lifestyle TV provides users with a conventional horizontal viewing experience, but can also be flipped 90 degrees to allow them to enjoy content created in vertical formats.

samsung says the model is ‘geared toward millennial and gen Z consumers’, it’s rotating feature enabling users to enjoy a variety of content by automatically swivelling. the tv connects over NFC and will mirror videos, games, social networks and e-commerce sites – in whatever display orientation mirrors the device.

‘consumers today expect TVs that can fully integrate into their individual lifestyles and samsung is redefining the role of the screen creating delivering new digital services and creating new designs to enhance your life,’ said grace dolan, vice president of marketing communication at samsung electronics america.

the sero is being positioned as the third part of samsung’s frame and serif TV family. it uses a 43-inch panel with 4.1 channel, 60-watt speakers and a microphone-enabled remote that supports bixby. there’s no word on resolution yet and samsung has not said when the sero tv would launch or how much it will cost.

it’s one of several unconventional TVs being unveiled at CES as well as a new tv with an 8k borderless screen. the new 88- and 150-inch microled models introduce ultra-slim infinity designs, virtually removing all four sides of the bezels for a finish that blends right into any wall.
