samsung solar powered internet schools in africa

located in phomolong, a rural area near johannesburg, south africa, samsung has initiated an effort to provide children with modern accesses to technology. conceived as an environmentally friendly mobile schoolhouse, it receives electricity via photo-voltaic panels installed on the roof. the ‘solar powered internet school’ can generate nine hours of electricity a day, powering the electronic equipment inside the twelve meter shipping container. the 21 student classroom is equipped with a 50-inch electronic board, internet-enabled solar-powered notebooks, galaxy tablet computers as well as wi-fi cameras. the school can also be easily moved by truck so that students in even the remotest of areas can continue their education.
