japan GOOD DESIGN award: based out of seoul and new jersey, multi-disciplinary studio tangram factory have unveiled ‘smart rope’ ahead of their official kickstarter campaign. the workout accessory is an LED-embedded jump rope that communicates with your smartphone – the first active fitness device for the company’s ‘smart gym’ platform, designed around creating a user experience to incorporate active workout data.
rather than simply monitoring movement like most passive wearables, tangram factory‘s ‘smart rope’ incorporates the natural motion of skipping rope to accurately count jumps, track and recommend workout interval sessions, and calculate calories burned based on your body mass index (BMI).
