firearm safety system leader armatix has presented the future of intelligent weaponry with ‘iP1’, a .22 LR caliber pistol controlled by a RFID-enabled timepiece. the ‘iP1’ saftey system incorporates microchips inside the smartwatch, which communicate with the handgun to activate its firing switch. for protection, the system will only shoot if it is within the range of the timepiece; an active RFID signal activates the pistol by means of a PIN code. as soon as the gun loses radio contact with the watch – for example if it is knocked out of the shooter’s hand or in case of loss, theft etc. – it automatically deactivates.
