the ‘sony video walkman nwz-a865b’ mp3 player, one of the devices in sony’s new ‘walkman A series’, is a 16GB portable music/video player, with a revamped design more reminiscent of smartphones than of previous ‘walkman’ models.

the device features a 3.4-inch OLED touchscreen, with a ‘home’ button located on the bottom front of the device, and navigation, hold, and volume control buttons along its right side. while the ‘nwz-a865b’ offers wireless file sharing and music streaming between devices, the series features only bluetooth 2.0, not wi-fi. an FM radio, karaoke mode, and automatic lyrics and iTunes synching round out the device’s features.

scheduled for release on july 31st, 2011, the ‘sony video-walkman’ is retailing for 163 euro on play.com, with information about its USA and japan prices still pending. the A-series, which is the first walkman line in several years that will be made readily available in the USA, also includes 8GB, 32GB, and 64GB models.
