space perspective unveils interiors of the world's first zero-emission 'spaceship neptune'

a net-zero space lounge

Space Perspective pioneers into the future with its Spaceship Neptune, a net-zero thrill ride and the Earth’s leading luxury spaceflight experience. The team hopes that the floating capsule will offer a luxurious adventure while instilling a newfound respect for planet Earth. Peering down at the planet from afar, viewers might come away with a new perspective of the interconnectedness of the human race.

Today, the team at Space Perspective unveils a first look at the customizable interiors of the ‘Space Lounge’ in Spaceship Neptune. The price for a trip? $125,000 USD per person. Up to eight guests can experience 360º views of planet earth from 20 miles (30 kilometers) above, during a six-hour trip inside the space capsule, which includes reclining sets, a bar, and a bathroom. (see designboom’s previous coverage here.)

Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune (see more here) now stands as the only carbon neutral, zero-emission way to travel into space. The capsule is designed to prioritize safety, sweeping views, and interaction between Space Explorers front and center in its pioneering design. The patented 360-degree panoramic windows will be the largest-ever flown to space, measuring 0.56 meters wide (nearly 2 feet) and 1.54 meters high (5 feet). Even the restroom will have a view!

The interiors are designed with sustainable materials embraced throughout. The handcrafted bar is made with proprietary materials recycled from the unique SpaceBalloon connected to the capsule.

Lift-off at dawn for the sunrise

With its Spaceship Neptune, Space Perspective is revolutionizing space tourism — a world away from rocket-fueled space travel. The elegant ascent in the climate-controlled, pressurized capsule, propelled by a state-of-the-art SpaceBalloon, enables passengers to safely glide for two hours at the edge of space absorbing the phenomenal beauty of Earth and vastness of space.

Lift-off takes place at dawn so guests can soak up the sun rising as they climb 100,000 feet (20 miles/30 kilometers). The gradual, two-hour descent to Earth gently concludes with a splash down in the ocean, where a ship retrieves the passengers, the capsule, and the SpaceBalloon. Every aspect of the interior has been designed to enhance the transformative views while elegantly ascending at a cruise speed of 12mph.
