miami-based startup SquarEat wants to revolutionize the way we eat. aiming to take over the ready-to-eat food industry, the startup has created modular square food produced by transforming raw food into standardized 50-gram squares that they claim are healthy, naturally long lasting, tasty and easy to store and deliver.

‘we have experienced first-hand the inefficiencies of traditional meal plan services and have seen a clear possibility of disruption in bringing a complete transformation to a sector that is growing tremendously fast, introducing a brand-new concept,’ said paolo cadegiani, founder and CEO of the company. ‘thanks to the squared shape we are able to run a mass production while using gourmet techniques. thermal shocking conservation, low temperature cooking, and vacuum sealing packing allow us to produce superior quality food and sell it at an affordable price.’

SquarEat’s food comes in, obviously, squares which result from low-temperature cooking and thermal shocking. each 50gr-square is made of a single primary ingredient plus natural aromas. with more than 20 recipes — including asparagus, basmati rice, seabass, beef and chocolate pancake — the startup says the compacting food process results in no loss of nutrients during cooking nor storage. ‘in fact, our squares last up to 3 weeks (of course, with NO additives!) and are tasty, healthy, and made with precisely measurable nutrients amount,’ they comment.

the small squares have been designed to be eaten in either four or six-piece meals, and the company is offering meal boxes that range from sweet to savory, priced from USD $5.50 to USD $7.99. the squares can be eaten cold or can be prepared in multiple ways, including sautéed, warm in the microwave or even air-fried.

SquarEat has launched a campaign on Wefunder to raise funds, allocating the investments both on developing a complete automatized production chain and the marketing campaign. the campaign has already raised over USD $150.000. dystopian for some, futuristic to others, we’re curious to see if people will embrace this initiative and how they will appropriate it.
