bursting onto the scene at the 2015 new york auto show, the subaru ‘BRZ STI performance’ concept employs a tuned EJ20 horizontally-opposed 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo racing engine, that is currently also used for the brand’s GT race in japan. as well, the sports car features subaru tecnica international (STI) technologies and components, such as the suspension and brake enhancements. the announcement signifies their plan to expand STI to the US, in three core business areas; aftermarket parts, complete cars and motorsports. furthermore, it marks the beginning of the ‘prominence 2020’ initiative that aims to build a strong structure and strategy. with a dynamic form, matched by its performance capabilities, the concept also showcases engineering excellence and a step towards establishing an even more distinctive appeal for the company.
