the tern ‘GSD’ is an electric cargo bicycle that can fold, adjust, and cruise 150 miles on a single charge. measuring just under six feet in length, it’s more compact than most dutch-style city cruisers and, when folded over, it can fit in the back of many mid-sized SUVs.

the tern ‘GSD’s’ wheelbase is similar to a standard bicycle, and can fit on to standard car, and bus bike-racks. while the frame does not fold, its collapsible handlebars and seat help it to fit in vehicle load areas, and be stored in small apartments. this mechanism works in seconds, and reduces the bike’s overall height by 33 percent, and width by 40 percent.

tern’s electric bicycle hauls its cargo with a long 80 cm rack integrated to the frame-integrated rack, that can hold two side panniers that come standard (measuring 62 l total storage), a single adult passenger, or two thule ‘yepp maxi’ child-seats. a variety of accessories can be added, including a front and rear tray, plus the manufacture intends to open source the frame attachment dimensions so that riders can even design their own accessories, for specific cargo.

to assist the rider’s pedalling with heavy cargo, tern’s ‘GSD’ includes a bosch performance pedal-assist mid-drive, with a dual-battery option. battery power-ranges are varied, with 400 watt-hour and 500 watt-hour options available in europe, while up to 900 watt-hours can be found in the US. the electric bike offers up to 155 miles (250 km) of pedal-assist range, and the mid-drive layout creates a low center of gravity, which improves ride stability and handling according to the taiwanese manufacturer.
