the tesla ‘model S P85D’, which comes with either a 60 or 85 kWh battery, is the world’s first dual electric motor production car. with a generator on each axle, the front and rear wheels are delivered with digitally and independently controlled torque that helps provide high levels of traction control. along with this, its low center of gravity gives the driver precise authority over handling and performance in all conditions. true to the company’s vision, their sports car’s propulsion system increases efficiency by splitting the delivery of current from the battery to each transformer. this gains the ‘P85D’ 10 additional miles when compared to the rear-engine ‘model S‘. similarly to its efficiency, its capability has also improved as it can go from 0 to 60mph in 3.2 seconds – making it one of the fastest accelerating four-door automobile of all time.

the new ‘model S P85D’ is available to order now, but will not be delivered until december 2014 in north america, and european customers will have to wait longer for theirs. its unveiling coincides with the introduction of a standard hardware package that will enable autopilot functionality. this means every ‘model S’ rolling out of the factory will include a forward radar, 12 long range ultrasonic sensors that reach 16 feet radially around the car, a forward looking camera and a high precision electric assist braking system. the autopilot technology is able to steer to stay with a lane, change roadways with a tap of a turn signal and manage speed by reading road signs. this aims to improve the driving experience by minimizing the tedious journeys and making it safer. another protective feature is relevant in the interior as the seats are more comfortable and has a taller headrest for whiplash prevention.

    recharge overnight or quick charge with a high amp connection to 50% in a couple or few hours
    batteries guaranteed 8 years, still a lot of range left at that point
    And Musk is right, the car is like a bloody roller coaster in power, whilst eerie silent at the same time.
    recently test drove the one vehicle in Australia, and it absolutely flies. Nothing else is quite the same after driving a tesla.

    1. 265 to 295 miles depending on which model you select.
    2. The charge time is unimportant because it is less than your sleep time. Every morning you have a full battery. You can drive around your home town 265 miles on each day. When was the last time you drove more than 265 miles during your daily commute? If you drive to another city, Tesla has superchargers.
    3. The battery life is expected to be 10 to 12 years and comes with a 8 year warranty.

    All the gadgets count for nought if you can’t get home, have to wait for hours before you can move on, or have to spend the cost of a truly efficient small car to replace the battery pack every five years or so…
