the faces of facebook: all 1.2 billion users in one page

communication designer natalia rojas has found a way to bring all 1,258,244,934 (and counting) facebook users together from around the world into one page with ‘the faces of facebook‘. the interactive project organizes every profile picture on the social media website into chronological registration order, which when combined, appears as an unorganized 1.2 billion person pixelated mosiac. developed using a combination of different coding programs, the visual experiment showcases a diverse community of users, all in one screen capture.

  • Great. An undifferentiated image purporting to represent something important, and yet, when one reads the description, it is clear that it represents nothing – nothing at all. This is the kind of irrelevant conceptual art that gives creativity a bad name. That said, it is clearly an effective PR campaign. I hope Ms. Rojas isn’t a Catholic as they have severe strictures against this kind of onanism.
