for anyone with a serious spirt of adventure, there are few better things in life than sleeping out under the stars. yet even without the hassle of having to pitch a tent, finding the perfect spot to set up camp can be tricky. so, the kind folks at trailnest have set out to deliver the perfect solution, in the form of a hammock stand that can be set up on your roof rack. the simple stand clamps securly to the existing roof bars on your vehicle, letting you experience vehicular camping from an entirely new perspective. the stand holds a weight of 250 lbs, yet if you want to share your experience with a friend, the trailnest team have even designed a double stand system which makes room for two.

the trailnest stand folds up flat for easy transportation on the top of your car, and is compatible with any hammock. once you find the perfect spot, there’s no need for trees or level ground–all you need do is hook up your hammock, swing the arms open, and lock them into place. trailnest note that the stand works best for bar diameters between 1.125 and 2.25 inches spaced anywhere from 36 to 48 inches apart, but with additional hardware many other mountings can be made possible.

trailnest founder chris blackthorne details that the idea for a vehicle-mounted hammock stand was born after he spent many uncomfortable nights sleeping in the back of his truck whilst traveling the anza-borrego desert park in california. after deciding that existing rooftop camping modules were not suited to the hot temperatures, blackthorne created the trailnest.

my mission is to provide a versatile, fun, and unforgettable place for travelers to rest, no matter how far they roam,’ explains blackthorne. ‘if you want something a little different, and love feeling the open wilderness stretch out around you in all directions, the trailnest is perfect for you.’
