‘shoal’ by troika, 2010 (dichroic acrylic, custom build electronics, stepper motors and controls)

shoal is the latest installation by the british design and technology studio troika. the project is installed in a 50 meter long corridor inside the corus building located on toronto’s waterfront. the installation consists of 467 fish like objects that are covered with iridescent colours and suspended from the ceiling. these elements are constantly rotating around, shimmering in the light. the rhythmic nature of their rotating aims to capture the movements and interdependency of a school of fish.
