easton lachepelle — the kid who designed a prosthetic arm at age 14 — isn’t stopping. he’s founded the private prosthetics startup, ‘unlimited tomorrow.’ he’s conducted thousands of hours of research and provided a young girl with a 3D printed prosthetic, a hyper-personalized arm with haptic feedback, at 1/20th the cost. the amazing work has paid off; 3D printer manufacturer, stratasys, and software developer, dassault systèmes, have announced that they will provide unlimited tomorrow with the tools they need to bring better, more affordable prosthetics to more people like momo (see fabulous young lady below).

stratasys will be chipping in their 3D printing technology. dassault systèmes will be unlimited tomorrow’s CAD supplier. no doubt, easton and his team will take advantage of all of it. their deliverable: customized prosthetics. not $100,000 a pop. not $20,000. everyone, unlimited tomorrow’s devices won’t just be hyper dexterous and provide haptic feedback in each individual finger; the devices will cost only 5,000 USD. it isn’t as cheap as easton’s first $400 arm at age 14, but unlimited tomorrow claims it to be better than anything else readily-available on the market.

throughout the video, momo gets a quick hang for her new prosthetic. like a seamless extension of her body, she plays with tiny objects, waves, brushes her hair, and does so without drowning in debt; as she grows, she will need to replace the limb, but she’s already seemed to master easton’s creation once and with unlimited tomorrow’s prices, she is saving up to $400,000 in hardware.

AI learning. muscle sensors. individual finger control. unlimited tomorrow says that their intent is to put users first — a modest, modest statement. ‘user’ has become such a cold word, but clearly that smile on momo’s face couldn’t be warmer. easton, his company, those who work with him — they’re putting people first.
