ville shopping cart bike

ville is a folding bicycle designed by american designer hyuk-jae chang that transforms into a shopping cart. the design recently won a bronze prize in the 2010 idea design awards. the unique design looks like a standard folding bicycle with baskets on the front and the rear. once folded the design transforms into a rolling shopping cart, perfect for going to the grocery store. the bike even has a handle and mini wheel with a small brake when in the folded position.

  • Like the concept, although I think you would be limited to outdoor/farmer’s markets with these – can’t see the grocery store approving of a mud-soaked bike being pushed around he business, which undermines the raison d’être for the bike.

  • I love this idea! Well Done!

    Casey Chen says:
  • wuaaaauuu!!!!
    i love it

    carmen says:
  • Is it perpetually raining shit where you live, Dan? This design is completely acceptable for regular use. Most people riding in the city (where this would probably be used most) don’t get caked in mud, just sweat. I could also see users taking this or a variation on this to the laundromat.

    Nice job, Jae!

    Steven says:
  • Even where I’m from, Alaska, this would work beautifully. I’d love one.
