wallywhy200: world’s first full-wide-body superyacht

Speed and comfort typically do not go hand-in-hand, even in the luxury world of yacht design. Wally, however, does not believe in compromise, which is why the Italian brand debuts the wallywhy200. Said to the world’s first full-wide-body superyacht, the design revolutionizes the norm. It combines the comfort and space of a large displacement vessel with the speed and performance of a semi-displacement.

Developed by the Wally design team led by Luca Bassani jointly with the Ferretti Group, Laurent Giles NA for naval architecture and studio A. Vallicelli & C for interior design, the wallywhy200 continues the Italian brand’s renowned design philosophy. Its sleek, modern appearance glimmers as if a spaceship floating on the ocean. Form and function is balanced through this distinctive, highly recognizable aesthetic whilst an immersive yachting experience is guaranteed to connect guests with the beauty of water.

Luxurious exterior and interior designs

The connection to the surrounding nature is accentuated by the yacht’s extendable outside spaces. The folding beach club expands to allow access to the sea on three sides, increasing the living area to 32m². It defines a true terrace over the water. Above, the upper deck is notably open as its futuristic glass and carbon dome top is supported without any pillars. A 5G wireless network enables guests to manage home automation control, audio and video systems inside or outside the vessel.

The wallywhy200 removes the typical exterior walkway in favor of a full-wide body that maximizes interior space. A huge 61m² open space living area – including the practical kitchen – stretches from side-to-side with expansive views to the outside. Neutral and sandy tones dress the interior to create a restful, natural aesthetic. Open-pore teak furniture embellishes this image further. The living room also features a standout 55-inch TV, equipped with a 5.1 premium sound system that extends to the main and upper decks, too.

Bulkheads are deemed superfluous as a sculptural, one-piece laminated carbon staircase spirals up the three decks. It astounds in its load-bearing function whilst being extremely lightweight. The yacht’s first unit features a four-cabin layout: the master cabin with two separate bathrooms on the main deck, and a VIP and two guest cabins on the lower deck. The 37m² master suite is housed at the 4.7-meter-high glazed bow, with a 270º view overlooking the ocean ahead.

comfort meets speed and high performance

The engine room is located at the opposite end of the boat to the master suite to guarantee a near-silent sleeping experience. It accommodates four Volvo Penta D-13 IPS 1350 engines, each offering 1,000hp. The enormous power means the wallywhy200 can cruise at any speed up to its maximum of 23 knots. Its high-performing hull is capable of cutting the waves without hitting and thus minimizing the pitching. This means the yacht maintains a horizontal position which is unique among fast semi-displacements. Fin stabilizers, which can be activated when at anchor or while cruising, and two seakeepers ensure great stability.

A four-cabin layout includes the master cabin with two separate bathrooms on the main deck, and a VIP and two guest cabins on the lower deck
