the 3D printing technology for the bus stop was provided by winsun construction technologies, an additive manufacturing company based in the jinshanyuan, zhangjiang national innovation park. it features a closed-loop design that looks like a rectangular frame. a trail of the original ink marks still remains on structure’s surface, allowing eagle-eyed spectators to see how the shelter was 3D printed layer by layer. the grey colored materials are taken from environmentally friendly sources that stem from the recycling of construction demolitions, and were chosen for their ability to blend into the style of ancient town of fengjing naturally. the people taking shelter in the bus stop mostly come from surrounding villages and towns in the jinshan district.
