zero 2 infinity, the private space transportation company based in barcelona, spain, has revealed the final design of the ‘bloon’ pod. the pressurized capsule aims to take six humans at a time – two pilots and four passengers – to the edge of space. first announced back in 2011, the ‘bloon’ is a sustainable solution to space voyages, offering a ‘near space experience’ whilst inflicting zero negative impact on the environment with a reusable pod and helium-inflated balloon.

working closely with the elisava school of design and engineering, zero 2 infinity’s announcement concludes a year long project to finalize the ‘bloon’ pod’s interior. the result is composed of an open modular composition that includes a surrounding of customizable materials and aesthetics to offer a complete experience for the ‘near space’ travellers.

said to be the first space tourism pod created in europe, the patented design features ergonomic shapes, lighting and next generation materials, as well as audiovisual elements for interaction. zero 2 infinity’s ‘bloon’ pod is defined by its large panoramic windows that encompass its circular form. these viewpoints ensure travellers receive ‘an unforgettable exploration’ with un-interrupted views of space and earth below.
