jacob hashimoto is known for altering large gallery spaces with his colorful installations of hanging kite-like paper structures.
his most recent work ‘gas giant’ presented by rhona hoffman gallery, is organized by predominantly cube-shaped components –
in combination with his classic circular modules – arranged in vibrant, graphic groupings. alluding to the effect of nature through
elements of artifice, ‘gas giant’ is simultaneously chaotic, loose, yet ordered, conveying ‘a powerful and overwhelming sensation of
watching a natural phenomenon while at the same time illustrating the subjective nature of memory and the elements which conjure it.’
