dutch firm DUS architects has recently opened the world’s first 3D printer pavilion in central amsterdam. ‘kamermaker‘, translated from dutch as the ‘room-maker’, is made from a 6 meter long container. the moveable unit has a 2.2 meter square base and stands 3.5 meters tall, measuring the size of a small room. a printing machine is contained inside the pavilion and is capable of producing another pavilion inside its four walls. turned on its side to be a vertical with a garage-style door, the space can generate tall 3D printed buildings in relation to its footprint.

a stainless steel exterior reflects its surroundings, blending into the environment. a grid of perforations hold miniature windmills which intend to produce energy with future trials and research. also 3D printed, the objects will be comprised of glow-in-the-dark PLA plastic filament.
