the desire for mobile, portable architecture is something which has been existing worldwide, for centuries.
from a newspaper kiosk by dré wapenaar for rotterdam's public library, to andrea zittel's 'A-Z wagon station'
used as a sleeping or camping shelter, 'more mobile: portable architecture for today', takes a look at structures
which are credited for their lightness, transience and practicality. the book investigates architectural projects
which have been designed as structures to be worn on and around the body, as well as larger-scale,
built constructs exploring mobility within both the rural and urban environment.

the book is a good overview of a range of portable structures. it takes a look beyond what we would normally
consider 'architecture' and provides insights into the different working methods of the designers behind some of
today's dynamic active mobile structures.
