japanese studio torafu architects have expanded their 'airvase' series to include two new patterns 'gradation' and 'cubed'.
the design is a flat-packed bowl, the thin and lightweight paper vessels gaining their tension and strength when expanded
and pulled out.

evolution of the vase

the cubed pattern 'airvase' have been developed for french brand cinna, and features a geometric pattern that is formed
from delicate line work, that appears either as flat or three dimensional. the action of expanding and compacting the object
in a variety of ways, allows one enjoy the ever-changing patterns it can offer.

with red decorating one side and blue, green and brown on the other, theses main colors fade into softer shades
which results in a gradually dissolving geometric pattern.

created exclusively for french manufacturer ligne roset, the 'airvase' featuring the features multiple shades of color on each side.
these tones of color come alive when the vases are opened and viewed from different angles, the simple color strips merging
into unexpected directions.

I assume that the product, being paper lattice, is merely an object with the shape of a vase and is not meant to actually hold anything?
