designer's own words:

using standard manufacturing processes, this original and aesthetic door handle resembles no other. carved from a single aluminum block, the handle is divided into two sections and then re-assembled.

the two sections of the door handle can easily be finished in a variety of texture and colors. the aluminum can be polished, anodized, clear coated or powder coated in vivid colors. for a more classical look, hardwood can be used by combining a black walnut rod with an anodized aluminum base, or even a white or black lacquered base.

the uc.1 handle allows for a variety of looks, finishes and colors to personalize its setting.

integral to the door handle's design are its two separate pieces, providing a unique shape while minimizing production costs.

the idea was not only to come up with an aesthetic object but with a practical and ergonomic one as well. the shape of the rod is dictated by the negative space the arch of the hand creates when reaching the handle to open the door. on the reverse, the multi-faceted shape of the handle is the perfect positive object that mirrors or fits the contour of the hand. furthermore, the base of the handle replicates the "c" shape formed by the hand. it is as if the handle is a hand that reaches out to anyone who wants to open the door.

the result is an inviting, original, colorful, yet sober design that creates an alternative and symbiotic way for a door handle to integrate with and accent its environment.
