wolff olins, new york have designed AOL's new identity for its future as an independent company.
the new logo sees the introduction of lower case letters and a period 'Aol.' in a sans serif typeface
placed over random imagery.

As far as I can see, they just typed Aol. in a standard font in MSWord, and put that on top of images.

I think it's hilarious that in the midst of so many companies rebranding with all lowercase letters, a company whose name is an acronym would choose to adopt title casing. What does AOL (sorry, Aol) even do these days?

That's a terrible rebranding. It has no identity, it muddles the acronym of AOL, it's bog standard.
