'you shouldn’t have to differentiate between disciplines, shoes are very architectural
and always have been, and even more recently there are new shoes…(that are) buildings.' - FG


'architects create brand names now, it's useful to commercial industry to associate with
those names in the same way they do with movie stars. purists out there probably find the idea
of my designing a shoe abhorrent, but I don't know why. we're going back to the renaissance model,
in which artists could work in any discipline.' - FG

mr. gehry was among five artists, invited by the french shoemaker J.M. weston: dior homme
creative director kris van assche, shoe designer michel perry, industrial designer martin szekely
and gallerist clemence krzentowski.

Why are shoes architectural? I am a shoe enthusiast, a collector of JM Weston shoes (14 pairs so far) AND and architect...Yet I fail to see the undeniable connection implied in the entry blurb between shoe making and Architecture. They are more sculptural probably, which is why both Gehry and his artist son feel at ease in this context. Regardless, this boot is simply beautiful and probably more memorable than most of F Gehry's work since Bilbao. Love it.
