giha woo: plug and player mp3 device

giha woo: plug and player mp3 device

device with standard headphone jack

korean product designer giha woo's concept for an mp3 player that is
possibly the easiest player to charge at any given time of day. being that the player
is no bigger than a plug head, the device can be charged in any wall socket for a few
minutes and be ready for more use. an iPod styled click wheel and a single led located
on the face of the device combine to make the ease of use, portability and quick
functioning capacity an interesting aspect of this device.

device by itself

the headphone port can be connected inline to a usb connector
and used on your computer to load it with your favorite music.

sorry but, this is one of the useless idea i have ever seen, when u plug it u cant use the btns almost......
pls who needs that kind of mp3 player ??
BoraALAP   03.02.11
concept is nice, but why use the ipod shuffle interface when you can come out with your own?
dror   03.02.11
dont get the idea... nice rendering though

Bora: "the device can be CHARGED in any wall socket for a few minutes and be ready for more use" (+ in the US, using the controls would not be an issue - our receptacles are not recessed)

dror: yes indeed, invent your own interface when an extremely elegant and universally understood one already exists - that's one of the things that is often wrong with design - unique or different or new does not always mean better or even worth doing

I like the thought process in this - thinking beyond the object, thinking about the process of using - the typical extra charging device and cord(s) have been eliminated. I'd like it a little better if it were more friendly to pop in your pocket when not in the socket - maybe a cap to cover the 2 prongs, almost like a lens cap

I am always traveling and this would really simplify my life since you can charge it everywhere. But I wouldn't sit 2 feet from an outlet and try and use the buttons when it's charging.
@dror why change something that people know and works so intuitively?
ocelot   03.02.11
well i totally agree but it dosent mean that it has to look exactly the same... it just seems to me that the design need to take another step
dror   03.02.11
it's brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
micky   03.02.11
NICE~!!!!!! It is very useful and unigue item for me~~
inuman   03.02.11
I tatally agree with that idea and style~~~!! wonderful and cool!
dana   03.02.11
either underdesigned or just designed as a concept to attract more publicity (cf. a concept with a possibility to hit the market in a few years)
the Turk   03.02.11
might be a silly question.... but wouldnt there be a tranformer needed to convert from ac to dc voltage? (i.e. the box between the powerpoint and your laptop)

I like the simplicity of the design, not so much the controls (ipod is good, but there is better). Its a let down that the consideration of current conversion wasnt addressed.

well done on thinking outside the box, and your renderings are fantastic.
Justin Olsson   03.02.11
what a ipod shuffle!! i thx this is usefulless idea. stop to copy and fake
arch   03.03.11
arch! why do you think this is copy? u are so stoopy!!! i think this is very unique design, and this contol interface can be found easily around us as well as ipod! dont you know that?
masen   03.03.11
how do you put music in it?
Haz   03.03.11
bad idea
daivt   03.03.11
dbkii:
Yesss, being unique or different or new does not always mean better or even worth doing.. we all know.

HOWEVER, meanwhile that doesnt mean, he can just copy someone's effort and achievement in that cheap way.
jay   03.03.11
nice concept!! the people who don't like this design
don't need use it! This design is useful and fantastic only for people who undestand this concept or phillasopy well. We should guarantee the variety of concepts! In my opnion, <plug and player > is very great concept!!!!!!!!!
jonadan vay   03.03.11
Very good! I want one~
men   03.03.11
there's just no way you could fit an ac/dc converter in there. and where's a usb port, or whatever means this thing uses to transfer the songs? and why it rips off ipod interface?

of course, it will be reblogged by everyone a zillion times, because it's such a 'smart' idea...
peayq   03.03.11
hey peayq~

My TV remote contraller also has a same interface.
its never ipod's exclusive property!
this interface represents the icon of mp3 devices.
why don't you also think that this desgin rips tha shape of common electric plugs???

Moreover, in these days, earphone hole can be connected USB port to transfer the songs.

you shoud think more before write that!

I partly agree with your opnion that it's smart idea... good job!
markiq   03.03.11
This one looks very dangerous, i wouldnt use

MikeP   03.03.11

ambini   03.03.11

mattew   03.03.11

sorail   03.03.11

it's very handy and good for me.

Keiryo   03.03.11
so cool~~~~ smartly~!
ivyj   03.04.11
fantastic concept and well deisgned!
namy   03.06.11
the phone interface probably gives you the connection to a computer, the thing about buttons its a problem not to big, maybe if the buttons were on the wire of the phones.
other thing is that this mp3 is dangerous (i read it here and i agree)
but yes they're inovative, cool, small, they're pretty awesome, i would buy one :)
john   03.07.11
very nice and smart
