giha woo: plug and player mp3 device
device with standard headphone jack
korean product designer giha woo's concept for an mp3 player that is
possibly the easiest player to charge at any given time of day. being that the player
is no bigger than a plug head, the device can be charged in any wall socket for a few
minutes and be ready for more use. an iPod styled click wheel and a single led located
on the face of the device combine to make the ease of use, portability and quick
functioning capacity an interesting aspect of this device.

the headphone port can be connected inline to a usb connector
and used on your computer to load it with your favorite music.

dror: yes indeed, invent your own interface when an extremely elegant and universally understood one already exists - that's one of the things that is often wrong with design - unique or different or new does not always mean better or even worth doing
I like the thought process in this - thinking beyond the object, thinking about the process of using - the typical extra charging device and cord(s) have been eliminated. I'd like it a little better if it were more friendly to pop in your pocket when not in the socket - maybe a cap to cover the 2 prongs, almost like a lens cap

I am always traveling and this would really simplify my life since you can charge it everywhere. But I wouldn't sit 2 feet from an outlet and try and use the buttons when it's charging.

might be a silly question.... but wouldnt there be a tranformer needed to convert from ac to dc voltage? (i.e. the box between the powerpoint and your laptop)
I like the simplicity of the design, not so much the controls (ipod is good, but there is better). Its a let down that the consideration of current conversion wasnt addressed.

don't need use it! This design is useful and fantastic only for people who undestand this concept or phillasopy well. We should guarantee the variety of concepts! In my opnion, <plug and player > is very great concept!!!!!!!!!

there's just no way you could fit an ac/dc converter in there. and where's a usb port, or whatever means this thing uses to transfer the songs? and why it rips off ipod interface?

its never ipod's exclusive property!
this interface represents the icon of mp3 devices.
why don't you also think that this desgin rips tha shape of common electric plugs???

the phone interface probably gives you the connection to a computer, the thing about buttons its a problem not to big, maybe if the buttons were on the wire of the phones.
other thing is that this mp3 is dangerous (i read it here and i agree)
