2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the unification of italy.
to celebrate this landmark year, cibic workshop (aldo cibic with tomasso corą) has designed bottles for
'UNA' the official wine produced for this occasion.

the wine itself has been created to acknowledge and celebrate the history and culture of italian wine country,
following the combination of 20 wines from native grapes indicated by the departments of agriculture of all italian regions,
carefully selected from assoenologi (enotecnici italian winemakers association).

drawing the bottles for the anniversary was a journey in discovering the great identities and traditions of italian wine country.
from the beginning, the idea was to develop a strong design identity, almost an archetype of the classic wine bottle,
but new and contemporary, which could communicate the different aspects of this project: the wine, the land, the tradition,
unity and of course, italy. the pair of bottles is a symbol of unity in itself, each representing male and female.

the red wine bottle is a further development of the classic red wine italian flask and bordeaux bottle shapes and stands as a 'strong man'.
white wine bottle is a redesign of classic bottles for clear wine from italy and represents an 'elegant and slender woman'.

the bottles of wine are packaged in a box made from ash wood

accompanying the bottles is a box made from ash, a tree which yields a valuable wood that is found throughout the italian peninsula.
to open it you need a key, an instrument that symbolizes the precious wine that is contained within. this key is the archetype of loyalty
and trust towards the people they are entrusted to.
the graphics for the UNA wine have been developed by facci&pollini.

I would add that wine doesn't need this type of packaging. If it's good, it will sell... This is ridiculous ! By a french.
