dutch photographer iwan baan has been invited by the villa noailles in hyeres, france
to be the subject of a photography exposition entitled, '2010 around the world - the diary
of a year of architecture.' having redefined the medium of architectural photography since
his unexpected entry in 2005, the winner of the inaugural julius shulman prize has captured
some of today's most important built spaces.

interrogating the role of the photographer in the communication, documentation,
and preservation of architecture, the exhibition puts on display baan's extensive
and geographically far-removed images, together providing a visual trip around
the world in a series of perspectives. in addition, baan will send a photograph
of his current location each week, allowing the exhibition to grow while viewers
follow his process step by step.

riddled with symbolism of the jewish faith, the neutral rectilinear volume generates a simplistic outwards aesthetic which conceals the building's complex narrative and inverted sense of spatiality.
