'triangular house' by copenhagen-based practice we architecture is a concept design
for a two-storey dwelling that reinterprets the traditional colonial-style building.
consisting of three pitched roof blocks connected end to end, the layout of the residence
is made compact by triangulating the overall form. a single elevated wing facilitates
natural ventilation for the interior and the covered terrace space.

designed to be located in puerto cayo, equador, the project is built around a patio with
ample green space. by raising the western block off the ground level, the central exterior area
is opened up to the surrounding landscape, establishing a visual and atmospheric relationship
between the building and the site. the terrace space below accommodates a lap pool and
an outdoor lounge area.

"i want to be BIG...."... because they are Danish??
"Vitra Haus a escala menor"....for stacking??
"Childish students work"...no comments.

i would recommend to see things from a further distance, kids.
It is a good concept.
plop   01.13.11
Why so harsh, "plop"? Don't tell me, you are the desperate architect of this "project"...

Just self promotion....
Parabol   01.13.11
they used to work at BIG.
jaja   01.13.11
NICE!
whaison@me.com   01.13.11
whats wrong with big?
they've set a new standard for
presenting and building good concepts
so whats wrong with that ?

interesting concept i would say
ah   01.13.11
Simple, good planing, clear - what more - goog architecture !
MM   01.13.11
from the images it seems there are no site restrictions. so why would you create something that complicated, unnecessary expensive and so unsuccessful in terms of living concept?
mature   01.13.11
BIG has brought a clarity to diagramming intentions and I applaud we for readily adopting it. (and the architecture looks nothing like BIG's work)
moak   01.13.11
Hey, but come on! Even the window frame is copied from VITRA HAUS.

Copying schows a lack of own ideas
lack of ideas   01.13.11
Very nice concept. Unusual and well done.
Cecília   01.13.11
"lack of ideas, copying", ....hmmm ..I dont think the challenge for architects is to avoid to find inspiration from successful concepts. When its work we used it.
everything has already been invented.
The question is more: how to reinterpret it in new concept & new context.
I think "We Architecture" had good teachers at archi school & understood many things.
totoro   01.13.11
hey - we all now how to make things look contemporary and we are all influenced by people - big, H+dM, sejima, - you name them - but if you look at the floor plan its quite straight forward and well organized - so thumps up!! Its not pretentious and looks logical
and there are many people that try harder to make things look interesting by copying all too many influences and then it still don't make it happen...

actually just reading that totoro just put it in other words - i agree with him - you don't invent a new architecture every Tuesday
michael   01.13.11
shame they didn't push the concept a little further:
a continuum of roofs (like Escher's drawings) and then it would have been exceptional.
archic   01.13.11
I saw this and immediately thought Saratoga School updated

nicely done, liveable, and some genuine thought behind it
dbkii   01.13.11
Kids and complicated. Not to be build for sure . the plants are too european, not even colonial. You have to go there first, better, to go there and look.

Open a Siza or Barragan's book and give up magazines.
Tiago   01.13.11
but why is it triangular? only to be different?
the diagrams don't support the idea - and that's the BIG difference to BIG: BIG first find a logical and simple concept, translate this into a design and finally explain it to the audience by diagrams, whereas this design tries to make up some "new" and also complicated gesture, and the diagrams are left without telling any story.
I guess, there is a reason for BIG's success, and that is genius and that is not so easy to copy...
big   01.13.11
Not bad :)
fanta   01.14.11
Es un bello proyecto. Felicitaciones!!
Enmateria   01.14.11
very bad - the reason given, why Bjarke fired these guys...
kluyven   01.14.11
i wonder why have to be a "great" reason/meaning at the base of an architecture project: come on, it works and is nice, what do you want more? take it easy
ivan   01.15.11
conception is very funcional

this urban design proposal for a fragmented suburb outside of copenhagen maintains the established character of the town while injecting the benefits of density and plazas found in urbanized areas.

the architecture was dictated by the site which it cautiously navigates through, wrapping itself around the old trees of the site in order to preserve as much of the original garden as possible.
